Washington – U.S. President-elect Donald Trump is preparing to sign over 100 executive orders on his first day, which could lead to sweeping changes in border security, deportation, and other policies.
Trump informed Republican senators about these developments during a private meeting. According to his plans, these executive orders will go into effect on January 20, Inauguration Day, when he takes office as President.
Trump’s top advisor, Stephen Miller, briefed the senators on the tough measures regarding border security and immigration that are likely to take effect soon. These initiatives include tightening security at the U.S.-Mexico border, assisting in the deportation of immigrants, and other key policies that Trump promised during his campaign.
The new administration plans to reverse several of the Biden administration’s executive orders while introducing Trump’s own policy proposals. Senators expect Trump to reinstate many of the border security measures from his first term, such as requiring immigrants to stay in Mexico and applying for entry from other countries while their claims are processed, as well as large-scale enforcement actions to deport those currently in the U.S. without legal status.
According to Trump’s plan, the first steps will target one million immigrants who have recently entered the U.S., committed crimes, or have been ordered to leave by courts.
Meanwhile, senators are preparing for Trump’s first day executive orders, and confirmation hearings for his top administration officials are set to begin.
