A suspect in the murder of former Cambodian National Rescue Party (CNRP) politician Lim Kimya (74) has been handed over to Thai authorities after being arrested for crossing the border. The handover took place on Saturday in Bangkok.
Thai national Ekkalak Paenoi (41) faces multiple charges, including premeditated murder, for allegedly shooting and killing Lim Kimya in Bangkok on Tuesday.
Somprasong Yentuam, Thailand’s assistant national police chief, told reporters, "The suspect has confessed to the crime and confirmed his identity as the person named in the arrest warrant. He appeared to be under stress."
The incident has sparked widespread concern in Thailand, and law enforcement agencies are continuing their investigation.
