India’s Jharkhand Erupts Over Alleged Recruitment Exam Irregularities
Thousands of students in India’s Jharkhand state have continued their protest for the 12th consecutive day, alleging irregularities in the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) recruitment examination. As pressure mounts on the state government, protesters are demanding a transparent investigation, a CBI probe, and public negotiations. The movement has also received support from the social media-based satirical platform Cockroach Janata Party (CJP).

A major controversy has erupted in the Indian state of Jharkhand following allegations of irregularities in the 14th Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) preliminary recruitment examination.
According to NDTV, protests began after the examination results were announced on July 5, with thousands of job aspirants questioning the transparency and fairness of the recruitment process.
The movement has now entered its 12th consecutive day, with hundreds of protesters staging a sit-in at Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium in Ranchi.
The protesters allege widespread irregularities in the recruitment process and demand a CBI investigation, strict action against those responsible, and complete transparency in the selection process.
Facing growing public pressure, the Hemant Soren government has formed a committee of ministers and senior officials to hold discussions with the students. Ranchi Sub-Divisional Officer Kumar Rajat visited the protest site and proposed the formation of a student delegation.
However, the students rejected closed-door negotiations, insisting that any discussions with the government must be conducted publicly in the presence of media cameras to ensure transparency.
Meanwhile, the state government says the CID is already investigating the allegations. The agency has arrested Rakshak Singh, an accountant of the examination-conducting agency TDPL, from Lucknow. With his arrest, the total number of arrests in the case has reached 20.
Authorities also confirmed that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) is examining digital records, application documents, and other evidence related to the alleged recruitment scam.
The protest has received support from Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijit Deepke, who said public movements are necessary to ensure accountability in institutions, including the judiciary, politics, media, and public recruitment systems. He also announced that CJP members would travel to Jharkhand to express solidarity with the protesting students.
