Saudi Crown Prince Urges Trump to Avoid New Iran Strike, Calls for Regional Stability

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) has reportedly urged U.S. President Donald Trump not to launch additional military strikes against Iran, expressing concern that further escalation could destabilize the Middle East and jeopardize Saudi Arabia’s ambitious Vision 2030 development agenda.

According to U.S. officials, the issue was discussed during a recent phone conversation between the two leaders. The Crown Prince reportedly warned that a wider regional conflict could threaten energy infrastructure, investment flows, and economic growth across the Gulf.

Reports suggest the United States has been considering additional options following attacks on U.S. forces and rising tensions around the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global energy shipping route.

Security analysts say Saudi Arabia’s primary focus is safeguarding Vision 2030, its long-term strategy to diversify the economy through investment, tourism, technology, and innovation. Any major military confrontation in the region could undermine those objectives.

Former U.S. defense official Dana Stroul noted that Saudi Arabia’s experience with years of conflict in Yemen has reinforced the importance of diplomatic engagement alongside military preparedness.

Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has held discussions with officials from Pakistan, Türkiye, and Saudi Arabia, reiterating that Tehran would respond firmly to any new attacks by the United States or Israel.

Regional diplomatic efforts, including mediation by Qatar and consultations involving Oman, continue as stakeholders seek to reduce tensions and ensure the security of the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most strategic maritime trade routes.
