To celebrate America’s 250th anniversary, U.S. Ambassador to Bangladesh Tracey Ann Jacobson Christensen inaugurated 50 specially decorated rickshaws painted in red, white, and blue — the symbolic colors of the United States flag.

The initiative was launched to honor American independence while also showcasing the strong and longstanding partnership between the United States and Bangladesh. Organizers described the colorful rickshaws as a unique blend of American symbolism and Bangladeshi cultural heritage.

Speaking at the event, Ambassador Christensen said the relationship between the two countries extends beyond diplomacy and continues to grow through trade, education, culture, and people-to-people connections. She expressed hope that the initiative would inspire greater friendship and mutual understanding between the citizens of both nations.

Rickshaws, widely recognized as an iconic symbol of Bangladesh, were chosen as the centerpiece of the celebration to reflect local culture in a creative and meaningful way. Artists involved in the project said the collaboration offered a fresh platform to present Bangladesh’s traditional rickshaw art to an international audience.

The specially designed rickshaws are expected to travel across different parts of Dhaka, attracting public attention and spreading messages of friendship, diversity, and cooperation. Observers say the initiative highlights how cultural diplomacy can strengthen ties between nations and bring communities closer together.
