Bangladesh’s Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, and Science and Technology, Fakir Mahbub Anam, is participating in the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) 2026 in Shanghai, China. During the four-day global summit, the minister is expected to highlight Bangladesh’s progress in digital transformation, AI-driven innovation, and smart governance while exploring opportunities for international cooperation.

Bangladesh is participating in the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) 2026, one of the world’s leading forums on artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, being held in Shanghai, China, from July 17 to July 20, 2026.

According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, Minister Fakir Mahbub Anam is representing Bangladesh at the four-day event.

The conference was officially inaugurated by Chinese President Xi Jinping, with keynote addresses delivered by the President of Kazakhstan, the Prime Ministers of Thailand and Cambodia, and the United Nations Secretary-General. Their speeches emphasized the growing importance of international cooperation in ensuring the responsible development and governance of artificial intelligence.

WAIC 2026 brings together heads of government, policymakers, technology leaders, researchers, innovators, and representatives from leading global technology companies to discuss the future of AI, emerging technologies, digital transformation, innovation, AI governance, and sustainable development.

During the conference, Minister Fakir Mahbub Anam is scheduled to participate in several high-level sessions and bilateral meetings with global technology leaders and policymakers. He is expected to present Bangladesh’s achievements in digital transformation, AI-driven innovation, smart governance, and human capital development.

The minister will also explore opportunities for international collaboration in artificial intelligence, advanced technologies, research, investment, and capacity building.
