“UAE Law Firm Hired to Revoke Benazir’s Bail, Says Home Minister.”

The Bangladesh government has intensified its legal efforts to repatriate former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed from the United Arab Emirates by appointing an experienced law firm in the UAE.

Speaking to reporters after an event organized by the Rajshahi Range Police and Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) on Sunday, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed said the government’s primary objective is to have Benazir Ahmed’s bail cancelled through legal procedures and bring him back to Bangladesh as soon as possible.

According to the minister, the appointed law firm has already been instructed to take all necessary legal steps to challenge the bail granted by the UAE court.

He said preliminary information suggests that Benazir Ahmed was granted bail under conditions that prohibit him from leaving the UAE. However, the government is currently collecting a certified copy of the court order to verify the exact terms and conditions.

The Home Minister added that the Ministry of Home Affairs is closely monitoring the matter, while Bangladesh’s Ambassador to the UAE and the Home Secretary remain in constant communication regarding the ongoing legal process.

Once the certified court documents are obtained, the government-appointed legal team will formally seek cancellation of the bail. Following the completion of the legal proceedings, Bangladesh will take the necessary steps to facilitate Benazir Ahmed’s return.

Benazir Ahmed is currently facing multiple investigations and legal cases in Bangladesh involving allegations of corruption, illicit wealth accumulation, and money laundering. The government says it remains committed to pursuing all available legal and diplomatic channels to ensure his return.
