“Human rights are not merely a slogan or a ceremonial commitment; they are the fundamental rights of every individual. While Bangladesh has made notable progress, significant challenges remain in ensuring justice, legal awareness, and equal access to rights for marginalized communities. These challenges can only be addressed through coordinated efforts involving the government, judiciary, media, civil society, and human rights organizations,” said M. Sayeed Chowdhury, Chairman of the International Human Rights and Detective News Society, during the organization’s 10th Anniversary celebration held at 66 Park Road, Baridhara Diplomatic Zone, Dhaka.

The International Human Rights and Detective News Society (IHRDNS) celebrated its 10th Anniversary with a colorful and well-attended event at 66 Park Road, Baridhara Diplomatic Zone in Dhaka, bringing together human rights activists, journalists, lawyers, social workers, and distinguished guests to reaffirm their commitment to justice, human dignity, and the protection of fundamental rights.

The formal program began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by the national anthem and a welcome address. A special tribute was also paid to the organization’s deceased members through a condolence resolution and prayers for the peace of their souls.

Delivering the keynote address, Chairman M. Sayeed Chowdhury emphasized that human rights should never remain confined to policy documents or public statements. Instead, he said, they must be reflected in people’s everyday lives through justice, accountability, equal opportunities, and respect for human dignity.

He noted that although Bangladesh has made considerable progress in social and economic development, many people, particularly those living in rural and marginalized communities, continue to face obstacles in accessing justice and understanding their legal rights. According to him, a lack of legal awareness, limited access to support services, and institutional challenges still prevent many victims from receiving timely assistance.

The Chairman stressed that human rights organizations must go beyond issuing statements and organizing events. They should actively provide legal awareness, document human rights concerns, support victims, promote accountability, and collaborate with public institutions to ensure that justice reaches every citizen.

He also highlighted the vital role of responsible journalism in protecting human rights. Investigative reporting, he said, helps expose injustice, corruption, abuse of power, and violations of fundamental rights. Strengthening cooperation between journalists and human rights organizations would contribute to greater transparency and public accountability.

Addressing emerging global challenges, M. Sayeed Chowdhury pointed out that rapid technological advancement has introduced new human rights concerns, including cybercrime, online harassment, digital privacy violations, human trafficking, and the protection of women and children in digital spaces. He said that human rights organizations must adapt to these evolving realities by embracing research, technology, and modern investigative methods.

Looking ahead, he announced that the organization plans to expand its activities throughout Bangladesh by establishing stronger regional networks, promoting legal education, training young volunteers, creating human rights monitoring cells, and introducing digital platforms for receiving complaints and providing support.

The Chairman further stated that the organization is committed to strengthening partnerships with international human rights institutions, research organizations, legal experts, and media organizations around the world. These collaborations, he said, would help promote the exchange of knowledge, improve advocacy efforts, and contribute to protecting human rights beyond national borders.

He also encouraged young people to become actively involved in the human rights movement, emphasizing that future generations must be equipped with knowledge of constitutional rights, civic responsibility, and the rule of law to build a more just and democratic society.

Other speakers at the event praised the organization’s decade-long contribution to promoting human rights, social justice, investigative journalism, legal awareness, and public service. They reaffirmed their commitment to continuing efforts that strengthen good governance, accountability, and the rule of law in Bangladesh.

One of the highlights of the celebration was the ceremonial 10th Anniversary cake-cutting, symbolizing the organization’s decade of service and dedication to protecting human dignity and promoting justice. The program concluded with a dinner reception attended by guests, members, and supporters in a warm and festive atmosphere.

As the organization enters its second decade, the International Human Rights and Detective News Society pledged to expand its humanitarian initiatives, strengthen legal awareness, deepen international cooperation, and continue working toward a society where every person’s rights are respected, protected, and upheld.
