Display of EU Flags at India’s Republic Day Signals Deepening Security Cooperation

The display of the flags of the European Union, the EU Military Staff, and the EU’s maritime missions ATALANTA and ASPIDES during India’s Republic Day celebrations has been described as a powerful symbol of the deepening security cooperation between the European Union and India.

According to an EU statement, this symbolic presence highlights the growing strategic alignment between the two partners, particularly in the areas of maritime security, freedom of navigation, and the protection of a rules-based international maritime order.

The statement further noted that this cooperation will reach a significant milestone tomorrow with the formal signing of the EU–India Security and Defence Partnership.
