"In Bangladesh, the politics of corpses is being played by the head of the government Dr. Yunus, Jamaat, and Nahid’s group of NCP" – Dhaka University Professor Dr. Nilima Akter [Dhaka, July 22, 2025] — While the nation mourns the tragic plane crash at Milestone School and College in Uttara, Dhaka, which claimed the lives of many including children, Dr. Nilima Akter, Associate Professor in the English Department at Dhaka University, has strongly criticized the interim government. She accused interim government chief Dr. Muhammad Yunus of engaging in what she called "politics over corpses."
Dr. Nilima also blamed Jamaat-e-Islami and National Citizens’ Party (NCP) convener Nahid Islam’s followers for contributing to what she termed as “manipulation in a time of national mourning.”
In a Facebook status posted from her personal account on Tuesday afternoon, Dr. Nilima — known as a pro-Awami League academic — wrote:
“Even when there's no issue, they create one. The same people who pushed young boys into gunfire last year are now being dishonest about the number of deaths in this plane ‘accident’!”
She further added:
“Before this, they launched attacks in Bangabandhu’s birthplace, slaughtered the people of Gopalganj like dogs. Today they’re going after young boys again! From last year till now — every death, every wound, every brainwashing — Jamaat, Nahid’s group, and Dr. Yunus are responsible.”
Expressing frustration, she wrote:
“The youth once believed these people would build the nation. Now they are realizing — Jamaat, Nahid’s group, and Yunus are actually the architects of corpses. They are architects of the nation’s destruction!”
