[New Delhi, July 21, 2025] — Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed deep sorrow and grief over the tragic crash of a Bangladesh Air Force training aircraft in the capital Dhaka, which claimed the lives of numerous students. He also extended solidarity with Bangladesh and assured all necessary assistance and support.

In a message posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, Prime Minister Modi wrote:

"Deeply saddened and shocked by the tragic loss of lives in the plane crash in Dhaka. Many of the victims were young students—our hearts are with the grieving families. Wishing a speedy recovery to the injured. India stands with Bangladesh and is ready to offer all forms of assistance and support."

On Monday morning, a Bangladesh Air Force training aircraft crashed into the building of Milestone School and College in Dhaka’s Uttara area. According to eyewitnesses and media reports, the Chinese-made F-7 model jet lost control and slammed into the educational institution just six minutes after takeoff.

Preliminary reports indicate that at least 20 people have been killed in the incident, and more than 171 others have been injured. Among the deceased are 18 students, two teachers, and the pilot of the aircraft.

The aircraft involved was a Chinese-manufactured F-7 fighter jet owned by the Bangladesh Air Force, typically used for training and light combat missions.
