[Australia, July 21, 2025] — Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has condemned an Israeli attack on people waiting for food and water in the Gaza Strip, calling it “completely unjustifiable and inexcusable.” He made the remarks in an interview with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) on Saturday, as reported by the Anadolu Agency.

Albanese said, “I have made it very clear to Israeli President Isaac Herzog—whom I’ve known for many years—that Israel is losing international support through its conduct, and that some of its actions are entirely unjustifiable and without merit.”

He added, “What we say in private, we also say in public. We speak to Israel as a friend—but it’s important to be honest and direct with a friend.”

The Australian Prime Minister also reaffirmed his government’s firm stance in support of a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

He said, “Australia has long supported Israel, but we must not forget that the original plan included two states—one Israeli and one Palestinian. My government continues to support the two-state solution.”

Albanese further stated that the international community must take responsibility in resolving the crisis, emphasizing that the role of the United States will be crucial and central.

He also referenced his recent visit to China, during which he clearly presented Australia’s position on the Ukraine issue to Chinese leadership.

Meanwhile, despite international calls for a ceasefire, Israel has continued its brutal offensive in Gaza since October 7, 2023. So far, nearly 59,000 Palestinians—mostly women and children—have been killed. Continuous bombardment has turned Gaza into rubble, with a severe food crisis and disease outbreaks.

In November last year, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

In addition, Israel is also facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) regarding its actions in Gaza.
