[Tehran, July 21, 2025] — Iran’s senior adviser to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, Ali Larijani, has met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, according to the Kremlin.

In a statement to local Russian media on July 20, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov confirmed that President Putin hosted Ali Larijani at the Kremlin. Peskov stated that during the meeting, the Iranian representative presented an assessment of the ongoing tensions in the Middle East and the situation surrounding Iran’s nuclear program.

Later, Tehran-based Press TV published additional details of the meeting, reporting—citing Peskov—that the Russian president reiterated Moscow’s well-known position in favor of establishing stability in the Middle East and seeking a political resolution to Iran’s nuclear issue.

The Russian presidential office also confirmed the meeting, stating that Larijani, acting under the directive of Ayatollah Khamenei, conveyed Iran’s perspective—particularly in light of the growing tensions in the region and the circumstances surrounding Iran’s nuclear activities.

The Kremlin further stated that President Putin expressed his support for restoring peace and stability in the region and endorsed a political solution to the nuclear issue involving Iran.

Notably, this meeting took place at a time when Iran and the European trio—France, Germany, and the United Kingdom—have in principle agreed to resume new discussions on Iran’s nuclear program in the coming week.
