Obama Led 'Treasonous Conspiracy' to Fabricate Russia Collusion Against Trump – Claims DNI Tulsi Gabbard
[Washington, July 20] — Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Tulsi Gabbard on Friday accused former President Barack Obama of orchestrating a “treasonous conspiracy” to fabricate allegations of Russian collusion against then-President-elect Donald Trump. Gabbard, citing newly declassified documents, said the long-running Trump-Russia investigation was based on a deliberately manufactured narrative that began shortly after the 2016 election.
Speaking on Sunday Morning Futures, Gabbard stated:
“The implications of this are historically profound. The more than 100 documents we released on Friday clearly show how a conspiracy was formed under President Obama’s leadership just weeks before he was to leave the White House, and after Trump had already been elected. This isn’t about Democrats or Republicans — this is about the integrity of our democratic republic, and every American should be alarmed.”
According to the documents released by Gabbard’s office, there was no evidence before the 2016 election that Russia attempted to directly interfere with vote counts. However, members of the intelligence community later claimed that Russian President Vladimir Putin wanted Trump to win. Gabbard argues this shift was politically motivated, not based on new intelligence.
She said:
“The intelligence claiming that Russia helped Trump win was manufactured. It contradicted months of prior assessments, all of which had concluded that Russia neither intended nor had the capability to ‘hack the U.S. election.’”
Gabbard further asserted:
“What President Obama and his senior national security team did essentially undermined the will of the American people. It amounted to a years-long coup attempt against President Trump, who was duly elected.”
The documents implicate several top former officials, including then-DNI James Clapper, CIA Director John Brennan, FBI Director James Comey, and National Security Adviser Susan Rice — all of whom worked under President Obama, either directly or indirectly.
Gabbard confirmed she will refer all the evidence to the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the FBI for criminal prosecution.
When asked whether she expects indictments, she responded:
“I will do everything I can to ensure that those responsible are held accountable.”
She added:
“We now have whistleblowers coming forward — people who worked inside the intelligence community at the time and were so disgusted by what they witnessed that they are now stepping out to demand justice… There must be indictments. No matter how powerful they were, everyone involved in this treasonous conspiracy against the American people must face consequences.”
Meanwhile, Democrats have strongly criticized Gabbard’s claims. Congressman Jim Himes of Connecticut, the ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, dismissed her allegations as “baseless.”
