Johran Mamdani, Democratic Party candidate for New York City Mayor and known as a democratic socialist, stated:
“If I become mayor, New York City will arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.”

He added,
“The values of this city align with international law. Now our work must reflect those values.”

Mamdani made this statement following the International Criminal Court (ICC) issuing arrest warrants against Netanyahu and Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for alleged war crimes in Gaza.

Netanyahu’s Response:
When asked by reporters about the possible arrest in New York, Netanyahu said,
“I am not worried. I am going to New York with President Trump — we’ll see what happens then.”
He dismissed Mamdani’s remarks as “ridiculous and insignificant.”

Trump’s Reaction:
Former President Donald Trump, who met Netanyahu at the White House Monday night, criticized Mamdani, saying,
“This person is not a socialist — he’s a communist. He has said terrible things about the Jewish community.”
Trump also added,
“Maybe he will be elected mayor, but in the end, his money will come from the White House. So he needs to behave properly, or he will face serious trouble.”

On Gaza, War, and Two-State Solution:
In an interview, Netanyahu said,
“Gaza was a state for Palestinians — a Hamas state. They killed us, raped women, and beheaded men. Such brutality hasn’t been seen since World War II.”
He emphasized,
“A Palestinian state that serves as a platform for our destruction is unacceptable.”

However, he noted that Israel desires peaceful neighbors,
“those who do not want to destroy us.” But security control will always remain in Israel’s hands.

He concluded by saying,
“Some will argue it’s not a full state — that doesn’t matter. Because we have said, ‘Never Again’ — and now is the time to make that a reality.”
