‘For the First Time Since Bashar al-Assad’s Fall, Syrian Prime Minister Ahmed al-Sharaq Invited’ – Russian President Putin
[Moscow, July 1, 2025] — Russia is preparing to invite Ahmed al-Sharaq, the head of Syria’s new administration formed after the fall of President Bashar al-Assad, to the upcoming Russia-Arab Summit. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov confirmed this plan.
In a press conference in Moscow, Peskov stated, "Without a doubt, Syria’s new administration will receive an invitation from Russia to participate in this important summit."
It is worth noting that Russian President Vladimir Putin first announced the Russia-Arab Summit earlier this year in May. In a message sent to participants of the Arab League Summit, he stated that the summit would be held on October 15, and the message was later published on the official Kremlin website.
Analysts believe the summit signals a new phase of strategic dialogue and alliance-building between Russia and the Arab world. The participation of Syria’s new leadership is expected to carry a particularly strong political message.
