[Tehran, June 29, 2025] — Iran's Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi, has issued a stern warning, expressing deep skepticism over Israel’s commitment to upholding the current ceasefire. He stated that any renewed Israeli aggression would be met with a powerful and immediate response.
He said:
“We have complete doubt about the enemy’s (Israel’s) intentions to honor its commitments, especially the ongoing ceasefire. History shows that Israel does not respect international norms. So if they violate the ceasefire again, we won’t delay—our response will be strong.”
According to Iran’s state-run Tasnim News Agency, General Mousavi made the remarks during a phone conversation with Saudi Arabia’s Defense Minister, Prince Khalid bin Salman Al Saud. The two leaders reportedly discussed the current ceasefire situation in Gaza and broader Middle East tensions.
It’s worth noting that the current ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas has already been violated on multiple occasions, according to various reports. While Iran has long expressed open support for Hamas, in recent months it has also worked to strengthen diplomatic ties with Saudi Arabia, aiming to build a broader regional alignment.
Analysts see Mousavi’s remarks as a strategic warning—meant not only for Israel but also as a signal to regional players, including Saudi Arabia, about Iran’s willingness to assert its position through military means if necessary.
