Following the announcement of a ceasefire with Iran, Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid has now called for an end to the long-running military campaign in Gaza.

In a message posted on X (formerly Twitter), Lapid said:
“Now it’s Gaza’s turn. It’s time to stop the war. Bring the hostages home, end the war!”

For the past 20 months, fighting between Israeli forces and Hamas has continued in Gaza, resulting in thousands of casualties and leaving many residents homeless. Although the international community has repeatedly called for a ceasefire, a permanent truce has yet to be achieved.

The recent ceasefire following 12 days of conflict with Iran has renewed political discussions within Israel regarding the Gaza war. Analysts view Lapid’s call as a form of potential political pressure toward a humanitarian resolution in Gaza.

Meanwhile, the Israeli government has not yet made a formal statement regarding its stance on Gaza. However, Lapid’s remarks signal growing political divisions in the country over ending the Gaza war.
