At the ongoing NATO Summit in The Hague, Netherlands, U.S. President Donald Trump commented on Iran’s recent wartime situation. He stated:
“Iran was just in a war, and they fought bravely.”

With this statement, Trump offered a form of acknowledgment and praise for Iran’s resistance and defensive actions — though his administration has maintained both military and diplomatic pressure on Tehran.

On Oil Exports and Sanctions
Trump was asked whether the U.S. plans to lift sanctions on Iran. He responded:
“If they want to sell oil, let them sell it. If China wants to buy it, that’s their business.”

He added,
“Iran needs money. They’re trying to rebuild their situation.”

On Nuclear Program Damage and Negotiations
When asked if Iran was able to move its nuclear materials during the war, President Trump replied:
“They didn’t have time. These are very heavy things, hard to move.”

At this point, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio noted that President Trump is open to discussions with any country seeking peaceful solutions. However, whether talks begin will depend on Iran’s willingness.

Hints of a Deal
President Trump said:
“We are going to meet with Iranian representatives as soon as next week. It’s even possible we could reach a deal.”
He also made clear:
“I don’t know if any deal is even necessary. They were in a war, they fought, and now they’ve gone back to their path. All I know is — we’re going to meet with them.”

Analysts say Trump’s remarks reflect a strategic respect for Iran’s recent resistance, while signaling a potential new phase of U.S. diplomatic engagement. In the post-war context, both sides now appear to be exploring possible paths to rebuild their future relationship.
