U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance has issued a stern warning, stating that if Iran refuses to return to the nuclear agreement, the consequences could be dire. He blamed Iran’s obstinacy for the ongoing loss of lives and said President Trump may consider taking “further action” to stop the situation from escalating.

In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, Vance wrote:

“President Trump may decide that more must be done to stop Iran’s enrichment program. That decision rests solely with the President.”

His remarks come amid a newly released report by the UN nuclear watchdog indicating that Iran is now enriching uranium to near weapons-grade levels. In response, Israel has launched a series of airstrikes on Tehran in recent days.

Vance added:

“Given 25 years of misguided foreign policy, it’s understandable that people fear foreign entanglements. But President Trump has earned the public’s trust on this issue. I’ve seen up close — he only uses the military in the interests of the American people. Whatever he decides, that objective will remain.”

Meanwhile, President Trump himself posted on Truth Social on Monday, writing:

“Iran should have signed the ‘deal’ I proposed. Tragic. A waste of human life. Put simply — Iran cannot be allowed to obtain nuclear weapons. I’ve said it again and again! Everyone must evacuate Tehran immediately!”

The Trump administration had been pursuing a diplomatic solution with Iran over its nuclear program. However, recent Israeli airstrikes on Tehran have derailed any prospects of negotiation.

Trump’s early departure from the G7 summit has also sparked speculation. French President Emmanuel Macron claimed Trump left the summit to work on a ceasefire deal between Israel and Iran. But Trump denied that, stating:

“Wrong! He has no idea why I’m heading back to Washington now. But it’s definitely not for a ceasefire. The reason is much bigger.”

According to analysts, if Iran does not immediately halt its nuclear activities, the Trump administration may indeed take more aggressive military or diplomatic actions.
