Washington, United States – June 12, 2025
At a regular White House press briefing, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt described the protests in Los Angeles against President Trump’s immigration policies as harmful to American society.

“These attacks were not only against law enforcement agencies, but also against American culture and society,” Leavitt said at the outset of the briefing.

She also echoed strong criticism of California’s Democratic leaders, particularly Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass.

“The most fundamental duty of a government is to maintain law and order, and this administration fully embraces that sacred responsibility. Democratic leaders like Governor Gavin Newsom and Mayor Karen Bass have shamefully failed to uphold their sworn duties to their citizens,” Leavitt stated.

“They are using a violent mob as a weapon to obstruct the enforcement of immigration laws — this is profoundly un-American and morally reprehensible.”
