Russian President Vladimir Putin has extended his heartfelt greetings to the global Muslim community on the occasion of the holy festival of Eid al-Adha. In a message published on the Kremlin's official website on Friday (June 6), he conveyed his wishes.
In his message, Putin said:
“Eid al-Adha, or Kurban Bayram, is a sacred religious festival that represents the culmination of ancient rituals and symbolizes unity, goodwill, and compassion among people. This day gives Muslims the joy of reconnecting with the rich traditions and spiritual foundations of their ancestors.”
He further added,
“By celebrating Kurban Bayram through acts of kindness and compassion—especially by standing beside those who are vulnerable and in need—the Muslim community reinforces values that strengthen peace, coexistence, and mutual respect within Russian society.”
The Russian president also praised the active and constructive role of Muslim organizations in the country.
“These organizations play a vital role in educating the younger generation, promoting family values, advancing culture and education, and engaging in social welfare activities,” he noted.
In the concluding part of his message, Putin said,
“The contributions of Muslim organizations, particularly in supporting the defenders of the homeland—those ensuring the nation's security through military service—and their families, deserve respect and deep gratitude.”
Known as Kurban Bayram in Russia, Eid al-Adha is a significant religious occasion for the country’s Muslim citizens. The President’s message on this occasion reflects the spirit of unity in Russia’s multicultural society.
