China Stands by Pakistan as an ‘Iron Brother’ in Defense of Sovereignty and National Interests – Beijing, May 20, 2025

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar met with Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China, in Beijing. Liu led a delegation to the meeting, where both sides discussed ways to enhance inter-party relations and agreed to further strengthen long-term cooperation.

Ishaq Dar stated that China has consistently supported Pakistan’s sovereignty and core national interests. He acknowledged China's support during difficult times and expressed gratitude for the Chinese government's continued backing on both regional and international stages. Dar also emphasized the importance of deepening the Pakistan-China friendship.

In response, Minister Liu Jianchao referred to Pakistan as China’s “Iron Brother.” He affirmed that China attaches great importance to its relationship with Pakistan and will continue to support Pakistan on key political, economic, and security matters. The meeting reflected the mutual trust and respect between the two nations.

According to official sources, Ishaq Dar is scheduled to hold another significant meeting later today with his Chinese counterpart. Discussions are expected to focus on regional peace, recent Pakistan-India tensions, and economic cooperation. This engagement is part of Pakistan’s broader efforts to strengthen diplomatic ties and promote regional stability.

Additionally, a trilateral foreign ministers’ meeting is being planned between Pakistan, China, and Afghanistan. The agenda will include discussions on regional peace, trade, and counterterrorism cooperation. This initiative represents another important step in maintaining bilateral and regional coordination between Islamabad and Beijing.
