Iranian government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani told Russia's RIA Novosti news agency on Monday that Tehran is expecting Russian President Vladimir Putin to visit Iran, and preparations for his arrival are already underway.
“Putin’s visit to Tehran is currently being finalized, and preparations are ongoing,” Mohajerani said.
Earlier, in the previous month, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that Tehran hoped President Putin would visit Iran in 2025.
The Kremlin has yet to make any official announcement regarding the Russian president’s visit to Iran.
Back in April, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi delivered a message from the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, to President Vladimir Putin during a meeting in Moscow.
During the meeting, the top Iranian diplomat explained Iran’s perspectives and positions on bilateral relations, regional, and international issues and handed over the Supreme Leader’s written message to President Putin.
Araghchi referred to the signing of the “Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement” with Russia as the most significant symbol of cooperation between the two nations and affirmed that the Islamic Republic of Iran is committed to strengthening and expanding relations with Russia at all levels.
President Putin also emphasized the importance of the Iran-Russia strategic partnership during the meeting, stating that strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing coordination and cooperation on regional and international matters are key to safeguarding the interests of both nations and maintaining peace and stability.
In addition to bilateral relations, the meeting also covered discussions on regional developments, ongoing threats, the war in Ukraine, nuclear issues, and the international situation.
