Israel has requested the judges of the International Criminal Court (ICC) to withdraw the arrest warrants issued against its Prime Minister and Defense Minister until the court rules on whether it has jurisdiction over Israel's actions in the Gaza war.

According to documents published on the ICC’s website, Israel has asked the court to instruct the prosecution to temporarily suspend its investigation into alleged atrocities committed in the Palestinian territories.

The documents, dated May 9, bear the signature of Israel's Deputy Attorney General Gilad Noam.

On November 21 of last year, the ICC issued arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, his then Defense Minister, and Hamas leader Ibrahim al-Masri, accusing them of war crimes and crimes against humanity during the Gaza conflict.

In February of this year, the ICC announced that due to credible information confirming the death of Hamas leader Ibrahim al-Masri, also known as Mohammad Deif, the arrest warrant against him had been withdrawn.
