Islamabad/Lahore/Muzaffarabad – May 10, 2025:
Following the announcement of a ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan, scenes of relief, celebration, and patriotic pride were seen across several Pakistani cities. Citizens took to the streets chanting “Pakistan Zindabad” (Long Live Pakistan), hailing the moment as one of national pride and peace.

In Lahore, 22-year-old Mohammad Fateh described the day as historic:
"This is a big day for Pakistan. Our military gave a strong response, and India had no choice but to agree to a ceasefire," he told reporters, standing amid a small crowd waving flags and cheering.

In Islamabad, 45-year-old homemaker Zubaida Bibi expressed emotional relief:
"War only brings suffering. Now that things are calming down, we are happy. It feels like the joy of Eid has returned. I feel like we have won."

In Muzaffarabad, the capital of Pakistan-administered Kashmir—a region deeply affected by the recent escalations—many locals viewed the ceasefire as a new beginning after years of hardship.
Zulfiqar Ali, a long-time resident, said:
"For us, peace means survival. We have endured so much. I am glad that Pakistan and India have finally made a rational decision."

Across the country, a unified message is echoing among the public: hope for lasting peace. While citizens rejoice in the moment, they also express cautious optimism that the ceasefire will be more than a temporary pause.

Experts echo these sentiments, emphasizing that while this truce is a positive step forward, political will and sustained diplomatic engagement will be crucial to transform this into a permanent peace between the two nations.
