Bangladesh’s interim government has called for restraint from both India and Pakistan amid rising tensions between the two nations.
In an interview with BBC Bangla, National Security Advisor Khalilur Rahman said that while urging both sides to remain calm, Bangladesh believes that the issue should be resolved diplomatically through dialogue.
He added, “We believe India and Pakistan will de-escalate tensions and return to a peaceful and stable position.”
Meanwhile, Bangladesh’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement saying that the country is closely monitoring the situation between India and Pakistan.
“Bangladesh expresses deep concern over the ongoing situation,” the statement read. “Bangladesh has urged both nations to remain calm, show restraint, and avoid actions that could further worsen the situation.”
“Bangladesh hopes that this tension will be resolved diplomatically for the sake of regional peace, progress, and stability,” the statement concluded.
National Security Advisor Khalilur Rahman also told BBC Bangla that the India-Pakistan conflict is unlikely to significantly impact Bangladesh. However, authorities are monitoring whether there will be any disruptions to Bangladesh’s import and export activities through Indian airspace.
