India Must Stand Firm Against Terrorism, Trump Administration Will Support with Strength and Resources: Speaker Mike Johnson

In the wake of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson delivered a message to India during a congressional briefing at Capitol Hill. He stated that Washington would support India in its fight against terrorism.

He said, “India must stand firm against terrorism. We will provide full support in that effort. The Trump administration will stand by India with strength and resources.”

Johnson’s remarks came a week after U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio held a phone conversation with Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, encouraging India to work in coordination with Pakistan to reduce tensions in South Asia.

During the call, Jaishankar said, “Those responsible for the horrific terrorist attack in Pahalgam must be held accountable and brought to justice.”

The U.S. State Department stated that Secretary Rubio expressed support for India’s fight against extremism and urged Pakistan to cooperate with the investigation. The April 22 attack, carried out by Pakistan-based militants, killed 26 innocent people—most of whom were tourists.

India Orders Nationwide Drill

Meanwhile, India’s Ministry of Home Affairs has ordered a nationwide drill on Wednesday in response to “new and complex threats,” amid rising tensions with Pakistan.

According to the directive, the drill will include steps such as activating air raid sirens, providing civil defense training to citizens to protect themselves during “enemy attacks,” and cleaning out bunkers and trenches.
