BNP Leaders Ensure Support for Hindu Community During Durga Puja
Saifur Rahman, Dhaka, October 11, 2024:As the largest religious festival of the Hindu community, Durga Puja, is being celebrated across Bangladesh, leaders and activists of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) have stepped up to ensure the safety and security of the Hindu community. Following the directives of BNP’s Acting Chairman, Tarique Rahman, party members across various levels are actively visiting Durga Puja mandaps, ensuring peaceful celebrations, and working to safeguard the security of Hindu devotees. Tarique Rahman emphasized, “Religion is personal, but the right to security is universal.”
On October 11, central leaders of BNP’s youth wing, Jubo Dal, visited the Siddheswari Kali Temple in Dhaka, where they monitored the overall situation, exchanged greetings with worshippers, and discussed the progress of the festivities.
Among those present were former Jubo Dal Central Committee Assistant General Secretary N.M. Abdullah Uzzal and former Assistant Organizing Secretary Mirza Aslam Ali, along with other local leaders. They ensured that peace and order were maintained at the mandap and took precautions to prevent any untoward incidents.
BNP leaders expressed that promoting religious tolerance and ensuring communal harmony has always been a part of the party’s core values. In line with the instructions of Tarique Rahman, they reiterated their readiness to support the Hindu community in any way necessary. They also called upon the public to cooperate in maintaining a peaceful atmosphere during the celebrations.
Meanwhile, recent attacks on some Durga Puja mandaps have raised allegations of involvement by the Awami League. Experts believe these attacks could be politically motivated attempts to portray the Hindu community as vulnerable and in need of protection under Awami League’s governance. However, BNP leaders strongly condemned such incidents and called for an end to such propaganda.
Overall, BNP has undertaken extensive preparations to ensure a peaceful environment for the Hindu community’s religious celebrations and their security across the country.
