Jordan Says It Has Foiled a National Security Threat

Jordan has announced that it has arrested 16 individuals and successfully thwarted a dangerous plot involving the illegal manufacture of rockets, explosives, and a drone production facility.

In a statement released Tuesday, Jordan’s General Intelligence Department said it uncovered plans to recruit and train “operatives” both inside the country and abroad, though further details were not disclosed. The statement also noted the discovery of a drone factory.

Authorities added that the arrests followed “close intelligence monitoring since 2021.”

Previously, Jordan had claimed to have foiled several plots by members of ISIL (ISIS), including plans to attack security installations and civilian infrastructure.
