Possible Meeting Between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bangladesh Chief Advisor Dr. Yunus at BIMSTEC Summit in Thailand
Dhaka, April 2, 2025 (BSS) — A discussion may take place between Bangladesh Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the BIMSTEC Summit to be held in Thailand on April 4.
A reliable source from the Chief Advisor's Office (CAO) confirmed this information to BSS today.
Dr. Khalilur Rahman, Chief Advisor’s High Representative on Rohingya and Priority Issues, also hinted at the possibility of this meeting during a press conference today.
He said, "We have requested India to hold this discussion (between the leaders of the two countries)... there is a good possibility of this meeting taking place," he commented at a briefing ahead of the BIMSTEC Summit at the Bangladesh Foreign Service Academy this afternoon.
In response to a question, Dr. Khalilur Rahman added, "Leaders of BIMSTEC member states will discuss future work with the Bangladesh Chief Advisor, so there is an opportunity for a meeting between Professor Yunus and Narendra Modi."
He further mentioned, "We are quite hopeful about this meeting."
Dr. Khalilur Rahman also informed that the Chief Advisor will hold bilateral talks with the leaders of BIMSTEC member states.
On April 4, the BIMSTEC chairmanship will officially be handed over to Bangladesh Chief Advisor Professor Yunus, he confirmed.
Chief Advisor's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam and Deputy Press Secretary Abdul Kalam Azad Majumder were also present at today’s press conference.
The BIMSTEC Summit is being held in Bangkok, Thailand, from April 2-4.
