German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock has warned the U.S. not to fall into Russian President Vladimir Putin's delaying tactics. She urged Europe to continue supporting Ukraine, stating that discussions between the U.S. and Russia have "stagnated."
On the other hand, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has rejected Baerbock's assessment and stated that progress has been made in U.S.-Russia talks. He emphasized that China supports the establishment of a "just, long-term, and committed peace agreement." China's relationship with Russia has strengthened during the Ukraine war, with Beijing providing diplomatic and commercial support to Moscow.
Former U.S. President Donald Trump also expressed some alignment with China's perspective, but voiced dissatisfaction with both sides. He stated that there is "terrible hatred" between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Putin. Trump further remarked, "If Russia and I do not make a deal to stop the bloodshed in Ukraine, and if I believe it is Russia's fault, I will impose a second round of tariffs on all oil imports from Russia."
Meanwhile, in mid-March, U.S. State Department spokesperson Tammi Bruce stated, "Now it's Russia's turn" to end the war, which has been ongoing for nearly three years.
