Moscow, March 11, 2025: Russia's Ministry of Defense has announced that its air defense forces shot down 337 Ukrainian drones overnight. This attack is considered the largest Ukrainian drone assault on Russia in the past three years.

The Russian Ministry reported that one person was killed and several others were injured in the attack. The assault occurred just as key talks were about to begin between Ukrainian and U.S. officials in Saudi Arabia. There has been no immediate response from Ukrainian authorities regarding the attack.

According to the Russian Ministry, 126 drones were shot down over the Kursk region, and 91 drones were brought down over the Moscow region. Additionally, drones were shot down in various border regions such as Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Kaluga, Lipetsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Oryol, and Ryazan.

Moscow's Mayor Sergei Sobyanin stated that more than 70 drones were intercepted as they flew towards the Russian capital. Governor Andrei Vorobyov of the Moscow region reported that one person was killed and nine others were injured in the attack, which also caused damage to several residential buildings and vehicles.

As a result of the attack, flight operations were temporarily suspended at six airports in Moscow, including Domodedovo, Vnukovo, Sheremetyevo, Zhukovsky, and those in Yaroslavl and Nizhny Novgorod regions. Local authorities also reported that train services at Domodedovo railway station were briefly halted.

Before the attack, in the Saudi city of Jeddah, Ukraine’s delegation was preparing to meet U.S. officials, including Marco Rubio, to discuss potential ceasefire proposals and access to Ukraine's rare earth minerals.

Meanwhile, Marco Rubio stated that the U.S. delegation would not be proposing any specific terms for a ceasefire but would rather listen to Ukraine’s proposals to understand what they are willing to consider.
