Whether you voted for Trump in last November’s election or not, after listening to Trump’s speech on Tuesday night, it felt like someone was truly putting their agenda into action. The most significant impact of Trump’s speech to Congress was his bold vision and the complete absence of any alternative from the Democratic Party.

Doug Schoen wrote, "Trump made it clear in his speech that his primary goal is the renewal of America and the restoration of the American Dream."

He further stated, "As an American patriot, I recall JFK’s (Kennedy) inaugural address in 1961 and Ronald Reagan’s speech in 1980. However, the challenges of today are no less significant. It is still unclear, at least, whether Trump will succeed in his goals—such as reducing inflation, controlling prices, ending the war in Ukraine, and restoring American strength both domestically and internationally. Even after his speech, it seems he is no closer to achieving his objectives."

However, Schoen believes that Trump’s speech had an expansive, bold vision and a clear objective, which no neutral observer can deny.

On the other hand, the Democratic Party's response was notably disappointing. Schoen says, "The Democrats were unable to provide any clear response; their message was limited to signage such as 'false,' 'save Medicaid,' and 'protect veterans'—this only showed that they had no substantial alternatives."

Schoen believes that the Democrats have become so diminished that they now seem almost irrelevant. "This saddened me. I’m not sure if we have any clear answers to the challenges ahead," he commented.

However, in praising Trump’s speech, Schoen said, "It might seem like I have changed parties, but I have not. As a Democrat, for the good of America, I must support Trump’s objectives."

He also mentioned, "Since Trump’s speech outlined a clear vision for the country’s economy, inflation, the southern border, crime, and peace worldwide, anyone who cares about the future of the country should support his goals."
