Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Hamas had rejected the proposed ceasefire plan for Gaza. In response, Netanyahu mentioned that he had accepted the proposal by Steve Witkoff, the U.S. special envoy. Witkoff’s plan suggests releasing half of the hostages immediately, with the remaining hostages to be freed once a permanent ceasefire is achieved.

Meanwhile, thousands of Israelis took part in a protest outside Netanyahu’s residence last Sunday. They demanded that the government agree to a deal that would bring all the hostages safely back home. The protesters declared that they would continue their demonstrations until the government agrees to sign an agreement to release all the hostages.

Following Hamas's rejection of the ceasefire proposal, Netanyahu announced that he would block humanitarian aid from entering Gaza, which has raised concerns among Israeli citizens, especially among the families of the hostages who remain in Gaza. Israel has stated that 59 hostages remain in Gaza, with 24 of them believed to still be alive.
