New York, January 31 – U.S. President Donald Trump's newly appointed Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, hinted at stricter immigration policies during a high-profile migrant arrest operation in New York City conducted in the presence of journalists. However, immigration experts claim that such operations are nothing new and are similar to routine actions taken under previous administrations.

The primary target of the operation was Anderson Zambrano-Pacheco, a Venezuelan national wanted by Aurora Police in Colorado for armed robbery charges. After the operation, Secretary Kristi Noem described him as a "criminal" and a "social menace."

In a social media post, Noem stated, "We are taking an entirely different and tougher approach to protecting America from immigration-related criminals." Her post included dramatic photos and videos of the operation.

It was revealed, however, that two other Venezuelan nationals involved in the same case were arrested in the Bronx last November without the presence of journalists or cameras. Colorado authorities have demanded custody of all three suspects to face trial before their deportation proceedings are initiated.

Immigrant rights groups criticized the Trump administration's high-profile campaign, calling it a publicity stunt. They urged New York City to prioritize the protection and rights of immigrants more seriously.
