Hundreds of people gathered at Wong Tai Sin Taoist Temple in Hong Kong from late evening, eagerly waiting for their turn to offer the first incense at the temple's main prayer hall.

Lunar New Year Celebrations Around the World:

In China, this festival is known as the Spring Festival. In Vietnam, it is celebrated as Tet, while in Korea, it is known as Seollal. The Snake, one of the 12 animals in the Chinese zodiac, follows the Year of the Dragon.

Festive Spirit in Malaysia:

In Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, the New Year was welcomed with the sound of fireworks outside the Guan Di Temple. The celebrations included lion dances, drum beats, and festive music. Incense burned in golden pots during prayers, spreading a smoky mist throughout the temple.

China’s Temporary Exodus:

During the eight-day national holiday in China, millions of people leave big cities to return to their hometowns. As a result, cities like Beijing appear deserted, with shops closed and typically crowded streets now empty.

Colorful Festivities in Russia:

In Moscow, a 10-day Lunar New Year festival began on Tuesday night. The celebrations featured drummers, dancers, and large representations of dragons and snakes in vibrant parades. Visitors exchanged New Year greetings in Russian, saying, "Happy New Year!"

People in Russia gathered to experience Chinese culture and cuisine. Folk performances, snack stalls, and craft exhibitions were among the main attractions.
