Alif Hasan, Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) stands by the families of three workers who died in the garment industry with financial assistance. BGMEA President Farooq Hasan handed over the financial assistance checks to the bereaved families of Azuara Khatun, Russell Howlader and Md Imran.
The check handing over ceremony held at BGMEA complex on Saturday (11 November) was also attended by BGMEA Vice President Shahidullah Azim, Vice President Md Nasir Uddin, Director Inamul Haque Khan (Bablu) and Director Haroon Or Rashid. BGMEA President Farooq Hasan said that lakhs of Goshak workers have made an invaluable contribution in bringing the garment industry to the respectable position it is today.
Emphasizing on the welfare of workers in the garment sector, he said that industry and workers are complementary to each other. If the industry is good, the workers will be good. He called upon workers and entrepreneurs to move the industry forward together. BGMEA President Farooq Hasan said, “Every garment worker has played an important role in the success of our garment industry. The welfare of workers is paramount to us and we must stand united to uphold their rights and interests.”
Highlighting the significance of the garment industry in the country’s economic development, BGMEA President Farooq Hasan said, “Apart from being the largest income generating sector in Bangladesh, the garment industry is playing an important role as the main source of livelihood for millions of workers and their families.
