Bangladesh’s 17-member team is leaving for Sri Lanka on Sunday, August 27 to play in the Asia Cup. The six-team tournament between Sri Lanka and Pakistan will begin on August 30 and will continue till September 17.
Ever since the announcement of the Asia Cup team, Bangladesh team’s out of form batting top order and inexperienced lower middle order were being discussed and criticized.
The team’s pace attack depth is also lacking as in-form pacer Ebadat Hussain was ruled out of the tournament with an injury a few days before the trip to Sri Lanka.
The other two teams in Bangladesh’s group in the Asia Cup are Sri Lanka and Afghanistan. The top two teams from this group will advance to the Super Four round. The best two teams of Super Four will play in the final.
Bangladesh’s first match will be on August 31 against the hosts Sri Lanka. The next match will be against Afghanistan in Lahore, Pakistan on September 3rd.
