According to the White House, the meeting is expected to focus heavily on foreign policy, particularly the military campaign against Iran, which has now entered its fifth month despite earlier expectations that it would end within weeks.

The prolonged conflict has driven gasoline prices higher across the United States, creating economic concerns and increasing political pressure on Republicans ahead of the November 2026 midterm elections.

A recent Reuters/Ipsos poll found that only one in three Americans now supports the war against Iran, marking one of the lowest approval ratings since the conflict began.

Political analysts say the rising cost of fuel and the uncertain military outlook could become key issues in the upcoming congressional elections, where Republicans are seeking to retain control of Congress.

Following the Cabinet meeting, President Trump is scheduled to travel to his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, for the weekend.
