Trump Team Revisits Regime Change Option as Iran Diplomacy Falters: Report

As diplomatic efforts with Iran appear to have stalled, elements within President Donald Trump's administration are once again considering the possibility of pursuing regime change in Tehran, according to a report published by the Financial Times on Monday.

The report states that "elements of the Trump administration are once again flirting with Plan A — which is to topple the Iranian regime."

According to the Financial Times' analysis, encouraging an internal uprising against Iran's leadership has also returned to Washington's policy discussions.

The report further notes that an earlier Israeli proposal to arm Kurdish groups opposed to Tehran had previously been rejected by the Trump administration. However, as policymakers search for alternative strategies, that proposal could now be reconsidered.
