U.S. President Donald Trump officially launched the Great American State Fair in Washington, D.C., as part of the celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of the United States, declaring that “America is back” and portraying his administration as having restored the nation’s strength and sovereignty.

Addressing a crowd gathered on the National Mall, Trump compared his political movement to the spirit of the American Revolution, saying that, “Just like those patriots of 1776, we have taken power back from the political class.” He argued that his administration had reclaimed America’s sovereignty, restored prosperity, and renewed its commitment to an “America First” agenda.

The opening ceremony featured military flyovers, including B-2 stealth bombers and F-35 fighter jets, alongside performances by the U.S. Marine Band and patriotic music. Trump entered the stage as Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the U.S.A.” played, emphasizing themes of national pride and unity.

During his speech, Trump highlighted what he described as improvements to the nation’s capital, including the removal of homeless encampments and graffiti, the restoration of monuments and memorials, and renovation work at landmarks such as Union Station, Lafayette Square, Meridian Hill Park, and the Reflecting Pool.

The president also outlined several legacy projects tied to the America 250 celebrations, including plans for a new White House ballroom, the National Garden of American Heroes, a “Spirit of ’76” exhibition, and a triumphal arch near Arlington Cemetery. He described the anniversary as both a tribute to the nation’s founding and the beginning of a new “golden age” for the United States.

Running through July 10, the Great American State Fair is set to showcase exhibits from all 50 states and six U.S. territories, along with military demonstrations, technology displays, patriotic entertainment, rodeo events, and other attractions. Trump also previewed an expansive Fourth of July celebration, promising what he called the “largest fireworks display in world history.”

Concluding his remarks, Trump paid tribute to America’s founders, military veterans, pioneers, and innovators, asserting that the country’s history and future are defined by resilience and ambition. “This is our heritage, this is our history, and this is the destiny of America to be the greatest country on Earth,” he said before closing with the message: “Happy Birthday, America.”
