U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed confidence that the ongoing conflict with Iran will come to an end in the near future.
Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office on Thursday, Trump said, “I think it’s going to end very soon. I don’t think they can last much longer.”
During the briefing, the President also acknowledged that the prolonged conflict has put pressure on U.S. stockpiles of certain precision-guided, long-range weapons.
Recent reports indicated that the U.S. military has used a significant number of advanced long-range missiles during the five-month conflict with Iran, reducing available inventories.
Responding to questions, Trump said the United States still possesses a vast arsenal of powerful weapons but admitted that supplies of some specific systems are lower than desired.
He added that American defense manufacturers are expanding production capacity, including new facilities for Patriot air-defense missiles and Tomahawk cruise missiles.
Analysts say Trump’s remarks reflect both optimism about diplomatic or military developments and the logistical challenges of sustaining a prolonged conflict.
