White House Calls Iranian Report on Draft Deal a ‘Complete Fabrication’

The White House said reports aired Wednesday by Iranian state television about a potential memorandum of understanding with the United States were a “complete fabrication.”

The White House Rapid Response account strongly pushed back against the Iranian state TV claims, which suggested that Tehran had reviewed a draft framework for a possible agreement with Washington.

According to the Iranian report, the proposed deal would include the withdrawal of U.S. forces from areas near Iran, the lifting of a naval blockade, and the restoration of commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz within one month.

The reports briefly boosted optimism in global markets, sending oil prices lower amid hopes that disruptions to shipping through Hormuz could ease.

Before the social media post rejecting the claims, the White House had neither confirmed nor denied the details mentioned in the report when contacted by Fox News Digital.

White House assistant press secretary Olivia Wales told Fox News in an email that negotiations were “proceeding nicely,” echoing comments previously made by Donald Trump.

“President Trump will only make a good deal for the American people, which must ensure that Iran can never have a nuclear weapon,” Wales said.
