JD Vance Blames Biden Administration for Rising Housing Costs, Citing Illegal Immigration

Republican vice-presidential candidate JD Vance has sharply criticized the Biden administration, claiming it allowed “tens of millions of illegal immigrants” into the United States, which he says has dramatically worsened the country’s housing crisis. In a post on X on Tuesday, Vance stated that while the previous administration left behind “a series of disasters,” skyrocketing housing prices were among the most significant consequences.

Vance said that he and former President Donald Trump are now “working overtime to clean up the mess” left by the Biden administration.

Republicans have long argued that a surge in unauthorized migration across the U.S.–Mexico border has intensified pressure on the housing market, contributing to higher rents and home prices. Democrats, however, dismiss these claims as politically motivated, pointing instead to supply shortages, rising construction costs, and interest rate hikes as the primary drivers of the crisis.

As the 2024 election cycle approaches, both immigration and housing affordability remain central political battlegrounds.
Vance’s latest remarks are likely to further escalate the debate.
