The Israeli army said it has killed two Palestinians in the central Gaza Strip for allegedly crossing the “yellow line” into Israeli-held territory despite the ongoing US-brokered ceasefire. Palestinian sources report that one of the men was collecting firewood near the area when Israeli forces opened fire.

The incident occurred just as the United States circulated a draft resolution at the UN Security Council outlining a new “Board of Peace” for Gaza and the creation of an International Stabilisation Force (ISF). The proposed force would operate for two years to maintain security, supervise demilitarisation, train a new Palestinian police force, and assist in rebuilding civilian infrastructure.

Meanwhile, a war crimes complaint has been filed in Germany against former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, accusing him of overseeing indiscriminate bombings during the 2008–2009 Gaza war. The complaint, lodged under Germany’s universal jurisdiction law, alleges that Israeli attacks at that time destroyed hospitals, schools, and densely populated civilian neighborhoods.

Human rights groups say both the new killings and the ongoing impunity for past war crimes show that Gaza’s civilians remain the main victims of repeated cycles of violence.
