US Forces Down Two Iranian Attack Drones Near Strait of Hormuz, CENTCOM Says
U.S. forces in the Middle East shot down two Iranian one-way attack drones on Saturday after they posed a threat to international maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, according to the U.S. Central Command (United States Central Command).
In a statement posted on X, CENTCOM said, “Earlier today, U.S. forces in the Middle East shot down two Iranian one-way attack drones that threatened international maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz.”
The command added that American forces remain “postured and ready” to continue defending against what it described as Iranian aggression.
The incident comes amid heightened tensions across the region following recent Iranian missile launches toward Gulf allies and ongoing U.S. military strikes targeting Iranian military infrastructure. The Strait of Hormuz, a critical global energy shipping route, has remained a focal point of security concerns as tensions between Washington and Tehran continue to escalate.
