Trump: “I Won’t Let Americans Go Hungry — Democrats Must Reopen the Government Now!”

“Our government lawyers believe we may not have the legal authority to pay SNAP with certain funds available, and now two courts have issued conflicting opinions. I do NOT want Americans to go hungry just because the Radical Democrats refuse to reopen the government.”

Trump: “I Won’t Let Americans Go Hungry — Democrats Must Reopen the Government Now!”

Washington, D.C. – November 1, 2025:   U.S. President Donald J. Trump issued a strongly worded statement regarding the ongoing government shutdown and legal confusion over funding the SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program).

In a post on his official X account, Trump wrote:

“Our government lawyers believe we may not have the legal authority to pay SNAP with certain funds available, and now two courts have issued conflicting opinions. I do NOT want Americans to go hungry just because the Radical Democrats refuse to reopen the government.”

Trump said he has instructed his legal team to ask the court to clarify how SNAP funding can be legally provided as soon as possible.

“If the Court gives us proper legal direction, it will be my honor to fund SNAP — just as I did for Military and Law Enforcement pay,” Trump added.

Blaming the Democrats for prolonging the shutdown, he continued:

“Democrats should quit this political charade that hurts people and immediately reopen the government.”

Trump even shared Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer’s office phone number, urging SNAP recipients to call and demand immediate government reopening.

Political analysts say Trump’s message underscores the escalating standoff in Washington over the shutdown and highlights his populist effort to align with ordinary Americans suffering from halted benefits.
