The ship, ‘MV Abdullah,’ was sighted off the coast of Bangladesh, several nautical miles away from the Bangladeshi ship ‘Jimmy’ on Thursday at 12:20 a.m. According to a post by the EU Naval Force’s X-Handle, three still images and a video clip of the warship’s handover operation were released. Social media posts and images sent show that the warship being handed over by the EU Naval Force’s Operation Atalanta is located a few nautical miles away from Bangladesh’s ship ‘Jimmy.’ It can also be seen that a helicopter from the warship is flying over the Bangladeshi ship ‘Jimmy.’ According to the latest location, the ship is currently anchored a mile and a half away from the Somali coast. On March 12, 23 sailors, including Bangladeshis, were released from the Bangladeshi ship ‘MV Abdullah’ by Somali pirates. Recently, the sailors on the Bangladeshi ship have communicated with the owner’s side for the first time. The owner’s organization, CSR Shipping, said that there has been no discussion on the issue of ransom in the first contact. Now, discussions will continue based on communication sources. With the safety of the sailors in mind, efforts are underway to release the ship ‘Jimmy’ as soon as possible.
