Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has announced that Iran will respect the ceasefire proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump. In a phone call with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Pezeshkian made it clear:
“If Israel does not violate the ceasefire, Iran will not either.”
He further stated:
“The Iranian people have once again shown that despite internal challenges and frustrations, they unite in the face of enemy aggression.”
This statement comes at a time when tensions across the Middle East remain high. Earlier, President Trump had declared:
“Both Iran and Israel have violated the ceasefire, but it remains in effect, and the situation is under control.”
Shortly after boarding Air Force One, Trump posted on Truth Social:
“The ceasefire is in effect. No one will be harmed.”
“Israel will not strike Iran. All aircraft will return and make a friendly ‘plane wave’ toward Iran.”
Trump expresses frustration over ceasefire violations
President Trump expressed dissatisfaction with the ongoing ceasefire violations. He said:
“Both Iran and Israel have broken some of the ceasefire rules. I’m not sure if they did so intentionally. However, I didn’t like some of Israel’s actions this morning at all. I’m seeing if I can put a stop to that.”
Trump’s warning on Iran’s nuclear program
The U.S. President issued a stern warning regarding Iran’s nuclear ambitions:
“Iran must never be allowed to rebuild its nuclear capabilities.”
“I’m also not pleased with Iran’s behavior.”
While the reality of the bilateral ceasefire remains uncertain, mistrust and a lack of mutual confidence still persist between the two nations. However, international analysts believe that the peaceful tone of Iran’s president and the Trump administration’s ongoing diplomatic efforts are playing a crucial role in preventing further escalation at this moment.
